Job Summary/Description

Angelo State University invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position in Communication at the Instructor level to teach a 5/5 load. This full-time, nine-month position in the Department of Communication and Mass Media would start in Fall of 2025. This individual will primarily teach the introductory Public Speaking course.

Typical Duties/Job Duties

1. Effective teaching, service, and commitment to the Department of Communication and Mass Media.
2. While the primary teaching assignment for this position will be Public Speaking, the individual, as needed, will be assigned to teach other undergraduate level courses.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• While the primary teaching assignment for this position will be Public Speaking, preference will be given to individuals with the ability to teach undergraduate courses in one or more of the other areas of communication. Those areas include: general communication studies, public relations/social media, and/or digital media.
• The individual hired for this position will be required to fully participate in the activities of the department to include recruitment and service on department committees.
• Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation and collaborative techniques and strategies.
• Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Communication, Communication Studies, Speech Communication, or closely related field. (preferred)
• Master's degree in other field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Communication. (considered)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to teach both traditional and face to face online delivery modes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Individuals with the ability to teach in one or more of the other areas of communication.
• Areas include: general communication studies, public relations, and/or digital media.
