POSITION SUMMARY:
This position performs routine assistance within the on-site water quality laboratory. May provide some assistance to more senior laboratory staff. Individual is given specific instructions, and work is performed under direct supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. May assist with the preparation of chemicals necessary to run the routine tests.
2. Cleans, maintains, and stores laboratory instruments and equipment.
3. Prepares a log of all incoming samples.
4. May assist with preparing orders for supplies and reagents as necessary to maintain proper stock.
5. May assist with maintaining laboratory instrumentation to comply with state and federal laboratory certification.
6. May assist with monthly surface water sample collections.
WORK LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not regularly provide work leadership or full personnel management to any employees.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Entry level.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Texas driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE
None
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to comprehend and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to read operation manuals and safety data sheets.
GUIDANCE RECEIVED
Receives ongoing detailed supervision and standard procedures. Follows standard procedures and/or detailed instructions for each task or assignment; any situation that calls for something different is referred to a supervisor or a more senior position.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions include exposure to weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases, and dust.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Standard office and laboratory equipment.
